We will use this blog to discuss the use of mobile devices, including iPads and iPods, for instruction. Feel free to share your ideas and questions.
Last year, we piloted the use of two labs of iPads to begin to understand the role that these devices play in the instructional process. Here are some of the comments from teachers participating in the pilot:
- It really fostered independent learners in the classroom, which was really exciting to see!
- The best thing about the iPads was watching my students of all ability levels try their best to be successful when completing the activities. Students were 100 % on task and engaged.
- I observed students being highly engaged in the production of a content-based project.
- Each student was actively engaged at his/her pace and ability level.
This year, each school will have a lab of 20 that teachers will be able to sign up to use with their students.
