At Harrisonburg City Schools we believe strongly in our programs, educational objectives, and expanding opportunities to meet the needs of students and the community. Students who are naturally inquisitive, show interest and achievement in science, technology or after-school based clubs like robotics may be interested in applying to the STEM Explorations Academy.
This is a unique program with unique benefits. Students accepted into the program will be immersed in an intergrated science curriculum that fosters creativity, design and problem solving capability. Eighth grade students will create a portfolio of work and a presentation that will be shared with HHS STEM Academy students and teachers. In addition, students in the STEM Explorations Academy will visit local STEM related business and academic partners to learn about a variety of STEM career pathways.
A variety of extended day options including design competitions and clubs will be offered to STEM Explorations Academy students. Additionally, evening programs will highlight student work and serve as an opportunity to share information about the STEM Explations Academy program.
